How do we treat?
Initial consultation will involve a detailed case history and medical history, followed by a thorough examination to make a clinical diagnosis.
Following this we can discuss management options, hands on treatment, or any further medical referral you may need.
Hands off therapy
Aswell as hands on therapy we can offer help and advice, exercise prescription or referral for any imaging. In the practice we also offer a specialist treatment for low back disc injuries using a spinal traction couch, an excellent treatment option for prolapsed discs, which uses oscillatory traction of the spine to help your injured disc heal.
Hands on therapy
Structural
Soft tissue, massage, muscle energy (METs), trigger points, myofascial release to relax dysfunctional muscles.
Mobilisation of joints throughout the body to loosen stiff and painful areas.
Manipulation, a high velocity thrust technique, which can make the ‘clicking’ noise, used to release pressure in restricted joints.
Acupuncture – western medical acupuncture, an adaption of traditional Chinese acupuncture using current knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology, and the principles of evidence-based medicine.
Cranial
An alternative hands on therapy using very gentle techniques via the cranium and sacrum predominantly to influence involuntary mechanisms in the body.
